Tokyo, Japan, 2000. Writing, type, phototypesetting, fonts, programs, imaginary phonogram, and even sprouts. The typographic works concentrated at the TDC were filled with tremendous confusion and an energy trying new expressions. Letters to be read and mysterious images coexist more for effect than meaning. Typography is not the expression of individuality but offers a meaningful experience of the atmosphere exuded by the times. In the face of the 21st century, media will probably change with the development of electronic technology but man's desire to know and communicate cannot be stopped. Places where letters will have an active part will continue to increase. Adventurers deal with letters full of such promises. This was the year 2000 for the TDC. Naomi Enami
